Am I at Risk of Heart Disease

Am I at Risk of Heart Disease?

There are numerous different risk factors when it comes to heart disease; some are controllable and some are not.  We at the Boone Heart Institute want you to be aware of both.

Uncontrollable risk factors

  • Being of an older age

  • Having family history of heart disease

  • Being male

  • Being post-menopausal

  • Race (African Americans, American Indians, and Mexican Americans are at higher risk for heart disease)

Controllable risk factors

  • Physical inactivity

  • Obesity (more than 20% over your ideal body weight)

  • Smoking

  • Uncontrolled hypertension

  • High C-reactive protein

  • High LDL

  • Uncontrolled stress and anger levels

You can find out your potential heart-attack risk rate with the Boone Heart Institute’s Carotid-IMT test, performed by one of our highly trained technicians using a SonoSite portable ultrasound machine, which can be taken anywhere. The machine’s reading device is placed up to your neck to check the thickness of your arterial lining to the thousandth of a millimeter, which ensures the best accuracy in year-to-year repeat testing.  Once the test is completed, your information will be analyzed at the Boone Heart Institute with our SonoCalc software by Doctor Boone himself. The results of this simple test will provide us with valuable insight into your current cardiovascular health, and your potential heart-attack risk rate.

At the Boone Heart Institute we believe in Life Assurance over Health Insurance. Boone Heart Life Assurance is designed to prolong your life, improve its quality, and be with you every step of the way. Let us worry about your health, so you can worry about living your life!

Consider your future, then consider Boone Heart.

The 4 Horsemen of Heart Disease

The heart is a complex machine, the engine that keeps your entire body going. Because of this, there are many ways in which your engine might be compromised. These are the 4 Horsemen of Heart Disease, or the most common ways the heart can die young:

  1. Plaque (Coronary/Cerebral Atherosclerosis)

  2. Clot (Coronary/Cerebral Thrombosis)

  3. Muscle/Valves (Congestive Heart Failure)

  4. Electricity (Cardiac Arrhythmia)

At Boone Heart, we are focused on analyzing these areas through early-detection and prevention.  We offer an array of world-class tests that provide us with valuable information about your heart health.
